I really love working out. Its a great natural high.
I used to be pretty okay in trombone...due to mishap at the conservatory I gave it up indefinitely. Who knows when I'll get the courage to play again?
movies, music...well, I pretty much enjoy everything that a "young adult" does. Expertise: None. I'm at one of those colleges where a liberal and general education is what you get. So, I guess I am skilled at spewing out crap when the opportune moment comes. Its sad to know that I have no expertise when so much money is thrown into me having one. Occupation: Student

| Geez. 9:50pm and I am restless. This is possibly the second time in 6 months where I actually situated myself on this IKEA desk 'o mine and attempted to be productive in work. Yes, ladies and gentleman(men?), I am one assignment away from achieving my masters. 0_0. One ridiculous, long-winded, turning out to be quite horrendous, assignment.
Blogging during this time of productivity should be condemned but it helps me release steam...and it sort of brings me back to those days in Oberlin where I would intermittently blog/e-mail/use restroom/drink water to make it through a long night's paper writing. Dare I say it? I feel young again. @_@. Yes, despite popular belief, I feel quite old even though I only have 23 years. I am double and some older than the people whom I spend most of my day with (fourth graders). Either I am acting like them, oh glorious dorkiness, or I am acting like a strict parent/adult.
It must be a pleasure to have a job where you maintain one consistent persona. I don't know...what do you think?
Sunday is Mother's Day. This is the beginning of non-celebration for me. I hope I won't feel too odd. I remember I used to bring home these ridiculously ugly carnations and cards to please my mom. I know she has years of "daughter" memorabilia stashed away somewhere. I just have to uncover them...but, sometimes it just doesn't feel right digging through her stuff. yikes. See what I mean by being restless? okay. its' been five minutes, time to get back to work.

| It's been....a year or so since my last xanga? I guess it's been long enough. So much has happened since I last blogged...but I guess if I was close to you then you'd know what was going on in my life.
Craziness.
I originally envisioned this year as the last year @ Janie P. Abbott Elementary school...but with the drop in enrollment and the gigantic cut in the state budget...it looks like I may have to stay for another year. The good thing is that I won't have to go to LMU at night. The minus is that have to do BTSA (another pseudo credentialing thing that clears my teaching credential). I figure, since I worked so hard to start teaching, I may as well take it to frutition.
I am also trying to reconstruct my life. I am trying to exercise more and become more of an independent woman. It's tough when I have to be alone most of the time. But, like so many people tell me, try not to look at the cup as half empty, but half full.
I really like my students this year. They truly are wonderful. They brighten up my life with all their rambunctious craziness. (for photos...go to my facebook account).
I went to the Tea Rose Room today with Vicky. She turned 30! hurrah! It took 2 and a half hours. All you can eat finger sandwiches. I got a bit carbed out...towards the second half...but, it was cute. We were sitting around in a little garden surrounded by roses.
Yesterday I went to UC Irvine with Michelle and Kevin (my brother in law and my half sister) to watch the NCAA men's volleyball championship. It really was fun. The drive took about an hour, but the game was extremely intense. Pepperdine vs. Pennstate. According to them, apparently Penn State has more hitters and that's why they won. Hurrah. There was a fan fest beforehand, where I got to meet a couple members of the US Men's Olympic Volleyball team. They signed a volleyball for me! Too bad volleyball isn't as popular as basketball or something. These guys who play are like amazonian giants. They are GIGANTIC. The guy who looks like a midget on their team is actually like 5-8. So, I mean....@_@....
Next Sunday I graduate! HURRAH! Yay me.

| The cutest thing that happened today...
1. My students found out that it was my birthday. They asked me when we did a survey about each month and birthdays (in math). I told them it was in December. They wanted to know the date and I told them I will put it on the calender when I updated for December. I wrote it super small and I thought nobody would notice. But they did. In the middle of writing they started singing Happy Birthday to me. I was so embarassed. It was the cutest thing. Also, one of my girls brought me a rose in the morning. It was very very cute.
2. I forgot my lunch and David actually drove it alll the way down to the school for me. That was the sweetest.
That not-so-cool things happening in the horizon/right now...
1. In the middle of a final exam (oral/ board meeting). Its so stupid. 2. I have a huge paper due next Monday. 3. I yelled at a kid for sliding down the slide incorrectly today (I have yard duty). Then, he looks at me and does not respond. I yell at him some more. He looks at me again and says -- "no english." it broke my heart. I can't believe I did that. | | |
